Mattel will present a doll with hearing impairment
The «American Girl» brand, owned by toy manufacturer «Mattel», has released the first doll in the U.S. representing people with total or partial hearing loss. Her only difference from the other models is the hearing aid.
The doll was named Joss Kendrick. According to Mattel legend, she is a passionate sportswoman with congenital hearing loss and a passion for surfing. The company believes that her character will help girls with the same problem to feel more confident. They represented the doll with 17-year-old Olympic surfing champion Caroline Marks.
Mattel also wants to raise awareness about hearing impairment in children with this initiative. In addition, the brand will donate $25,000 for the problem of hair loss in the US.
