How to calm down your kid during a pandemic?
Firstly, it is necessary to calm the child and to tell him that this virus is not much different from thecommon cold, diarrhea or vomiting.
Psychologists call on to be as honest as possible with children and to speak openly with them about the coronavirus. At the same time, they note a parent should take into account a child’s age.
It is necessary to calm the child. You do not know what will happen in the future, but you can tell him/her: «You will be fine, we will be fine too. Someone might get sick, of course, but everything is still going to be ok».
Engage with your child in some specific meaningful activities. Make a toy, draw a picture or prepare dinner together. It reduces anxiety when a kid does something together with his/her parents.
Try to use this time to get to know each other better with your child. You can do sports exercises together. It is important to keep the normal routine; otherwise, it will be difficult for a child to get back to normal life after quarantine. Keep your regular schedule (do activities like at school or kindergarten).
If your child is very afraid of getting sick, you can say to him/her: «There are always germs but everyone will be healthy if we will follow the rules. Of course, a person can get sick, but then he recovers. You remember how you were sick when you had a cold? After you have got well».
