Making Applesauce for Baby
Apples themselves are quite a complex fruit. It has high acidity, but at the same time, it contains many useful vitamins, which are undoubtedly needed for every person. It isn’t recommended to give apples raw, since the baby’s stomach won’t yet be ready for such serious changes, especially if you are just weaning your baby from breastfeeding. Accordingly, choose the preference for making apple baby food. It will be acceptable and tasty.
For making apples for baby food, it is best to use well-ripened apples. They shouldn’t be sour. Better to use regular apples or sweeter ones. If you see sweetness, then you don’t need to add additional sweeteners in the dish itself, for example, sugar, honey, jam. It is also worth noting that honey can be given to a child at least 12 months old. Use only natural honey.
It is clear that for making baby applesauce, it is also better to use organic apples that have been grown under normal conditions and the trees haven’t been treated for parasites. This is important not only for consumption by a child but also for adults as well. So make your choice as responsibly as possible.
Homemade Applesauce for Baby Recipe
So, let’s get down to making homemade baby food applesauce. For this, we need apples and water. Optionally, to improve the taste, you can add cinnamon, vanilla, sugar, honey, jam. It’s a great idea to add this homemade apple baby food to the oatmeal. A good combination of oatmeal, corn, rice, and semolina oatmeal.
First, wash the apples in hot water. Peel it. It must be removed because it will be difficult for the child to chew it for now. Also, don’t forget about the bones, because the child can choke on them. Then cut the required number of apples into approximately equal pieces so that everything cooks evenly. Use smaller pieces for faster cooking.
Pour clean water into a medium saucepan (never use tap water!) And bring it to a boil. Then place the apples so that they are completely covered with water. For an older child, you can add carrots and other fruits to the apple, for example, peaches, apricots, bananas, and more. Cook over moderate heat until tender. Check their condition about 10 minutes after you set them to cook. The important thing here isn’t to overcook them.
After cooking, drain the boiling water and pour cold water over the apples for about 2-3 minutes. Now you can add any ingredients that we have listed earlier for added flavor or sweetness. In the beginning, don’t put too much on everything. You can add them later at any time.
Beat the apples with a blender until smooth. Be sure to try it before serving it to your child. Place the required amount of food on a deep plate. You can decorate it with berries. Or add to the oatmeal. It is better to store leftovers in the refrigerator for several days or in the freezer for up to 2 months. Warm up a little before serving.
